James Ray on motivation

James RayIn his article Motivational Speakers Don’t Motivate, James Arthur Ray talks about how motivation for change and personal growth can work:

“Motivational Speakers don’t motivate… Motivation comes from within and no one can do it to you or for you. What motivational speakers can potentially provide is the impetus to move you into action. And action (as always) is the key.

Nine times out of ten you will find that the “motivation” you receive is actually something you “retrieve.”

In other words, someone or something triggers a remembrance from deep inside of you — in one of those extreme moments of clarity your thinking takes you to a place of higher resonance and you remember who you are and of what you are capable.

When the wave of motivation rolls over you, you are inspired (in spirit) by a new sense of power and purpose.
