Learning limitations

School can incubate our passions to achieve. Like these valedictorians. But it can also instill self-limiting patterns of thinking and behavior.

Robert Kiyosaki ("Rich Dad, Poor Dad") recalls his early school years: "Today I don’t use much of what I learned after the fifth grade. But that’s not to say school didn’t leave its permanent mark on me. The fact is, I left school with several behavioral traits I hadn’t walked in with."

Great post Douglas and so true. I think school is over rated as a way of teaching. The main aim is to get a qualification.

I heard an argument that school was great for teaching children social skills. This is so untrue. It can be used as a way of developing social skills but nobody teaches these skills.

What you also said about the non-risk takers is also a great point. We are very conditioned into the 9-5, work for money way of thinking that we are neglecting our spirits and our sense of adventure.

great post look forward to reading more.
