A few years ago I met someone who said he had a fear of public speaking and after a speech class in college he "overcame" it. I asked, "So your fear was totally gone?" "No. That's not really possible. There will always be some fear." And this is exactly what most people mean when they say they "overcame" their fear of public speaking. They mean that they don't let it stop them or that it's reduced in intensity. But is it really true that like the man above said, "There will always be some fear"? In my experience it's not.

You can speak in public without fear.

The way you look at people, at your performance in public, and at yourself must change in order for your fears to go away.
If they don't you will feel this fear for the rest of your life.
You'll never experience the joy of presenting in front of your boss and colleagues with total confidence.
You'll never connect deeply with the audience as you give that wedding speech.
You'll never volunteer to toast at a party and really enjoy it.
You'll miss out on dozens or even hundreds of opportunities to let your personal voice make a
difference.
